We proud to announce FIG Talks, which will take place on January 16th, 2016, at the Microsoft New England Research and Development Center. This event is aimed at designers and developers, and for people who are interested in getting started creating games of their own. The talks will feature three main tracks, Game Design, Game Development and Game Business.
Keynote Speaker
Ichiro is Founder and President of Dejobaan Games, an Boston-area indie studio best known for award winning titles such as AaaaaAAaaaAAAaaAAAAaAAAAA!!! (an action game about BASE jumping) and Elegy for a Dead World (a game about writing Romantic era poetry). He’s worked in game development for over 20 years, and is active in the independent community as a mentor for Montreal-based Execution Labs and an advisor to the Indie Megabooth. Talk Tracks
FIG Talks will cover content that has to do with indie game design, indie game development, and the business or academia of developing independent games. The talks are split up into 3 tracks: Game Design, Game Development, Game Business.
- Game Business Topics: Challenges bootstrapping your studio, crowdfunding dos and don’ts, working with publishers, how to make a living, etc.
- Game Design Topics: How to playtest a digital or tabletop game to success, presenting a game design methodology or framework, designing for narrative and designing for technical challenge, designing serious games, etc.
- Game Development Topics: Workshops on particular engines or tools, technical reviews, intro to game development, game development tools, etc. Other topics can fit only loosely into these categories if the topic is particularly interesting.

Speaker Submissions
Speaker submissions are now closed– We are reviewing submissions and submitters will be informed about their topic acceptance or not by December 1st, 2015.
Speakers are financially responsible for their own transportation and housing, though BostonFIG may be able to assist with finding free accommodations with other local attendees/indies. BostonFIG will have local hotel information available on the bostonfig.com website. All BostonFIG Talks attendees and speakers will receive breakfast and lunch as part of the event.
